Get To Know The CID Method

By Edna Booker

There are numerous explanations for the occurrence of crimes as a social problem. CID method come in use when there is need to know who committed the crime, the victim and any other important information. While some of these methods are simple some are very complex depending on how thorough the criminals are in eliminating the evidence.

The first method is the crime scene investigation where an investigator analyzes the location where it is alleged that the crime took place. Some of the information that investigators look for include any items that are misplaced, any missing items and anything else that is out of ordinary. All these information allows the investigators to have a basis for their investigation.

The crime scene is very fragile, hence a lot of care is needed. Thus, investigators are required to wear protective clothing such as gloves to avoid introducing anything to the crime or taking anything from it. A Lot of care is also needed to store every item that is collected. However, there are many methods of storing the evidence and each one depends on the nature of evidence.

Interviews are the most commonly used investigating methods. Different jurisdictions have different rules pertaining to how the interview should be conducted. These rules ensure the admissibility of evidence collected as even though the facts may show somebody committed a crime that law may find them innocent if the rules of evidence collection were never followed.

Interview techniques are divided into either simple or complex. The simple ones include the use of questioning techniques such as that that advocate for the use of open-ended questions. The complex interview method includes the use of cognitive interviews and the hypnosis methods. However, the effectiveness of these methods is faced with several controversies.

The other method is the use of undercover investigators. These are the detectives who take up roles as a different person in order to collect information to be used in the court of law. Even though this is one of the most effective methods professionals detectives are needed to ensure that all rules are followed to ensure admissibility of evidence.

Surveillance is another method though it is not widely used. It involves a process where the investigators keep track of people they are suspecting are planning to commit a crime, are in the process of committing one or they have already committed the crime. The method is very expensive in terms of resources needed such as manpower and the time.

In conclusion, not all methods are relevant for every type of investigation. Thus, there are many factors that determine the method to be used and these includes the information needed, whether the subject under investigation is criminal or non-criminal among other factors. However, methods such as interview are found in most of the investigations. Be well equipped with information.
